FIRE RESTRICTIONS LIFTED FOR GILPIN COUNTY

Monday, July 16, 2013 @1:20 P.M. - Effective at 8 a.m. on July 17, 2013, the Gilpin County Sheriff will lift the temporary fire restriction order for all areas of unincorporated Gilpin County. The recent rainfall and cooler temperatures have reduced the danger of wildfire; however, the Sheriff wants to encourage citizens and visitors to be vigilant as the danger of fire is always present in the high country. Warmer weather conditions can quickly lower the fuel moisture content of trees and grasses, making them susceptible to ignition. The Sheriff will continue to closely monitor the fire danger in the county and make adjustments as appropriate and necessary to reduce the risk of fires in Gilpin County.
