LATEST UPDATE ON GILPIN COUNTY FIRE

06/26/13 @9:30 p.m. - At approximately 7:00 p.m. one helicopter water drop was completed which diminished the fire considerably. Helicopter operations were stopped and fire crews ceased operations for the night. A Type 2 hand crew from South Dakota will hike into the area tonight to assess the fire. At the present time the size of the fire is estimated at 1/4 acre. Crews will meet with the Type II team for a briefing at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow morning and will resume operations.
